France's head coach, Didier Deschamps is convinced that Kante has the potential to excel in his new position under the leadership of Maurizio Sarri.

When asked about Kante's new role at the English club, he replied,

'He is able [to play higher up the pitch]. He can also play deeper where he is very useful and very powerful.'

'Kante also takes it by playing deeper, but he is now in the offensive part, but he still has the quality of cutting out passes and recovering balls.'

Personal Opinion:

Kante is famous for his quick and industrious self, making his mark playing at the top of English football on 8th of December 2015 replacing Vardy with 8 minutes to spare. He continued to play the role of an engine on the pitch even when he came to Chelsea under Antonio Conte. However, ever since the sacking of Conte and the hiring of Sarri, many find that Kante is no longer his original self. He's forced to change part of his playing style and currently plays in a more advanced role that often sees him being involved in final third movements. Honestly, even though I agree that Kante is no longer the best in his position due to a shift in his role, I still feel he should not be overlooked when picking a midfield trio. I believe he is able to adapt to Sarri's strategy but he needs to be given time. I feel we could even play as a full-back :)
